In loving memory of Hendrix Wille
Comforting families of children with serious illness through the support of our Sweet Eats kitchen, meal donations, and family connection.
Hendrix was our only son, whom was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 2. He underwent multiple rounds of intensive chemotherapy, and a bone marrow transplant before his leukemia returned. Hendrix inspired all of those around him to smile more, laugh more, give more, share more, and love more. He died at home surrounded by his family and loved ones at the age of 3, on April 16, 2013.
We learned during our journey that caring for a seriously ill child is emotionally, physically, mentally, and financially draining. Long hospital stays can also be very isolating. We are comforting other families by providing a space where they can get free food, drinks, meals, and emotional support from other caregivers. This allows families to focus their time and energy on loving and caring for all of their children.
Your support and contributions enable us to provide a free kitchen space at Valley Children's Oncology unit stocked weekly with free food, meals. coffee and holiday meals to families who are caring for their child during hospital admissions. It also provides a space for families to connect and support one another during treatment, and also after treatment.
